Terms & Conditions

Reserving Your Special Day

Once you have decided on a suitable date and have checked availability with The Great Hall at Mains, you can then make a provisional booking.

We will hold this provisional booking for you for up to fourteen days or until another request is made for that particular date. After fourteen days, we will require a non-refundable deposit of £1,000.00. On receipt of your deposit, signed booking form & full terms and conditions, we will confirm your chosen date in writing, along with a receipt for your deposit. (Minimum numbers of 60 adults apply to any Friday, Saturday or Sunday – 80 adults on New Year’s Eve).


All wedding/event clients are required to use our own preferred caterers for the wedding breakfast/dinner/buffet and must also book a full drinks package. Exceptions may be made bit further terms and conditions will apply. Please ask us for further details.


Our bar is licensed up until Midnight.


Press releases or any material that you may wish to publish in any form can only be done with the express authority of The Great Hall at Mains.

You are required to notify The Great Hall at Mains of all equipment you intend to hire or arrange for the event. The Great Hall at Mains reserves absolute discretion to disallow inappropriate equipment or entertainments, including pyrotechnics.

You are required to book our resident DJ or band through ourselves. No other entertainers, DJ or bands will be permitted to play at The Great Hall other than those booked through our recommended entertainments agency or who are listed on our Recommended Suppliers list (please ask for further details).

You should be aware that in accordance with the terms and conditions of our music and entertainment license, and within the new government Health & Safety regulations covering employees, noise levels must be fully monitored and controlled at all times.

Noise limiters have therefore been installed in the Great Hall at Mains. All music must finish at midnight; no amplified or live music is permitted after this time. We require copies of any performers Public Liability Insurance details and our Music Disclaimer form must be read and signed by them 28 days prior to any live entertainment taking place.


Wedding insurance is always advised for this important occasion. We can recommend a suitable policy for you to consider. Please ask for details.


The Great Hall at Mains can accommodate numbers up to 200 seated and 300 buffet style; however there will be an extra charge for all tables and chairs over and above numbers of 150. Please ask us for further details.
