Here at The Great Hall at Mains, we provide an exclusive setting in which to celebrate some of the most memorable moments in your life.
Your Naming Ceremony
A Naming Ceremony is a very special way of celebrating the birth of your child and welcoming a new arrival to the rest of the family. It is a unique experience and will provide precious memories to treasure for all time.
The naming of your child is one of the most important decisions a parent has to make. A name gives a child an identity and a Naming Ceremony is a dignified and formal opportunity to:
- Celebrate the birth and welcome your child into the family.
- Announce the names that you have chosen.
- Make promises of commitment to nurture and support your child into adult life.
- Choose other adults who are prepared to promise a special supportive relationship to your child.
The child or children can be of any age. Any parent can make the arrangements, as can anyone with parental responsibility or legal guardianship of the child. A Naming Ceremony can also be used to celebrate adoptive and/or step children into your family and to announce the new relationship.
Parents do not have to be married and can come from any cultural background, with any spiritual or religious beliefs.
After the Celebrant introduces the ceremony, you will be able to decide what you would like the ceremony to contain. You may wish to include music, have someone recite poems, or have readings to enhance the ceremony. Often gifts are presented to your child/children to mark this special occasion.
The Great Hall at Mains is an approved premises for such an occasion and is a unique venue in which to facilitate such a happy event. On this special day The Great Hall and grounds will be ‘Exclusively Yours’.
